JDM: Japanese Drift Master Brings Anime-Inspired Street Racing to PS5 in February

Having skidded onto Xbox late last year, JDM: Japanese Drift Master has now locked in a PS5 release date.

It'll screech to Sony's current-gen console on the 6th February, bringing anime-inspired street racing to the PlayStation Nation (yes, it's 2026 and we're still writing that).

It's worth noting that JDM launched on Steam in May of last year, and it currently sits at a 'Mostly Positive' user rating. The game's received several big updates since its arrival, and all of them will be included from day one on PS5.

According to the official press release, said updates include a photo mode, the 'Landmarks' activity, and a bunch of real-world cars from manufacturers like Honda, Subaru, and Nissan. Additional Eurobeat tracks have been made available on the radio, too — which can never be a bad thing.

I've been a fan of initial D and FM ghost and this is hitting that. I need to look up if it's any good though.
Given that we haven't gotten the most recent initial D games (thanks sega), this may be an interesting alternative if it's good.

Been playing this on Xbox and I love it as a love letter to Initial D. It feels like the best Initial D game for capturing the feel of the anime and not just the race battles. The manga comic cutscenes have sound effects and are nicely done, and the story really hits for Initial D fans, except it's sushi as opposed to tofu. Even the world feels appropriate for the classic anime settings.

To top it off the driving is fun and it's even got some decent customization as well. Very simcade but that's what I think it should be, and the graphics sort of feel like the modern Persona sort of anime direction. Highly recommend this one if you're into this sort of thing or NFS Underground sort of games.

Good event variety or if they want to a decent mechanic idea, purchase. If I can get a similar appeal of this as Tokyo Extreme Racer Drift 2 (as reboot is the street racing/open world approach). I prefer the Drift sub series instead. So if this offers something like that I'm in.

Style and no substance or care for ideas, just boring aesthetics, brands/reference material if no licenses, other garbage of lacking structure/progression with much depth, no purchase.

Simple as that, yet easy to keep saying no purchase from all current racing Indies, AA, AAA, etc.
